Flash to HTML5 game conversion

In shortDeviztech rebuilds Flash educational games in HTML5 so they play again in every modern browser and on tablets. We work from your .fla files or just the .swf, keep the rules, art, sounds and scoring, and hand back the new source files; we have migrated a whole library.

Your Flash games still have value. They just don't play anywhere. Browsers dropped Flash at the end of 2020, and with it went years of educational content. We rebuild those games in HTML5 so they play again — in every modern browser, on tablets and phones.

Rebuilt, not wrapped

There is no reliable automatic converter for Flash games. Emulators get you part of the way and then fail on the game that matters most. We rebuild each game:

  1. Recover — we work from your .fla files, or from the .swf alone if that is all that survives.
  2. Rebuild — same rules, same art, same sounds, same scoring, on a modern HTML5 engine.
  3. Improve where you ask — touch controls, responsive layout, accessibility, new levels.
  4. Hand back — the new source files, so you are never locked out again.

A whole library, not one game

Conversion pays off at library scale. Once the first game in a family is rebuilt, the rest follow the same pattern far faster — which is how we migrated an entire educational library subject by subject, then designed new games in the same style. Read the case study →

We've also converted Flash games for UpDigital, Velibor H. and hyperactive.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there an automatic Flash-to-HTML5 converter?

There is no reliable one. Emulators get part of the way and then fail on the game that matters most, so we rebuild each game.

What if we only have the .swf file?

We can still work from it. We recover from your .fla files if you have them, or from the .swf alone if that is all that survives.

Will the rebuilt game match the original?

Yes — same rules, same art, same sounds and same scoring, on a modern HTML5 engine. We improve things only where you ask: touch controls, responsive layout, accessibility or new levels.

Do we get the source files?

Yes. We hand back the new source files, so you are never locked out again.

Can you convert a whole library?

Yes. Conversion pays off at library scale: once the first game in a family is rebuilt, the rest follow the same pattern far faster. We migrated an entire educational library subject by subject — see the case study.
